ANTOR Milestones
▎ANTOR is a worldwide organization with chapters in many continents and countries such as Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. ANTOR started in London in 1952, which celebrated its golden anniversary only 2 years ago.
▎ANTOR was formally established in Taiwan in December 1993 with Narong of Thailand as its first President. Barbara Chen of Austria became the second President for three and a half years, with Betty Liu of New Zealand who was then Vice President finishing the half year term as Acting President. Thomas Tu of Queensland became the next President in 1999-2000. Jemy See of the Embassy of Costa Rica stayed the longest as President completing his four year term from year 2000-2004.
▎ANTOR seeks to strengthen its relationship with the tourism media and travel trade in Taiwan by actively getting involved or co-sponsoring activities. It held several joint activities with the ROC Tourism Press Association.
▎ANTOR is co-sponsor of the Kaohsiung Travel Fair, the Asia-Pacific Tourism Expo in Kaohsiung, and Travel Fairs in Taichung, Hsinchu, Taoyuan, and the Outbound Travel Fair in Taipei. ANTOR’s biggest participation is in the Taipei International Travel Fair organized by the Taiwan Visitors Association.
▎ANTOR holds its annual travel trade seminar in Kaohsiung, Taichung, and Changwa.
▎ANTOR also supports the ROC Tourism Bureau annual Lantern Festival in Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Taichung.
▎ANTOR co-sponsors the yearly search for the Most Outstanding Tour Leaders of the ROC Association of Tour Managers.
▎In our desire to be grateful and repaying the many benefits we have received in Taiwan, ANTOR engaged in charity works by joining the visit to the earthquake areas in Central Taiwan organized by the ROC Tourism Bureau, and donating proceeds of a charity bazaar to the St. Colleta’s Traning Center for the handicapped whose building was partially destroyed by the earthquake.
